Lovehoney Desire Rechargeable Bullet Review
Today I thought I’d go back to my roots and write a sex toy review. I started out writing as an adult product reviewer, hosting my own independent dedicated blog between 2013-2016 and it is a topic I always have a lot to say on!
About the Lovehoney Desire range
I am reviewing the Lovehoney Desire Rechargeable Bullet which I have purchased myself. I originally bought two back in 2018 which both bit the bullet (hehe) earlier this month and immediately had to get another… So it’s kinda obvious which way this review is going to go!
The Desire range is Lovehoney‘s offering of reasonably priced luxury toys. All products are USB rechargeable, made from gorgeous body safe silicone and classic, tasteful designs. I find this range really attractive, well priced and ideal for gifting.
The packaging
The Desire Bullet comes in a small unassuming grey and purple box with a photo of the product and a little bit of info about Lovehoney and the product.
In the box you get the bullet, an instruction manual, a magnetic USB charger and a fancy little PU zip up purse for storage. This is quite spacious, it can easily accommodate both the toy and the charger, or if you’re like me, two bullets plus a few condoms. Really handy and discrete.
Unfortunately the bullet is housed in a plastic clamshell which in my opinion serves no purpose and there were multiple tiny plastic bags to separate the other bits too. Given the safety seal on the box, I don’t think this much plastic is necessary and is disappointing from an eco standpoint.
One thing I will point out is the bullet is advertised on the box (and in the instruction manual) to have 3 speeds and 17 patterns. This is not correct, mine actually has 4 constant speeds (absolutely not a complaint!). This was the same as the toys I bought in 2018 so that copy really needs updating!
First impressions
So, obviously I already knew exactly what the toy was going to look like and am pleased to report that the design has barely changed since my original ones purchase just over two and a half years ago. The silicone is silky, not grabby, and the dark purple and gunmetal colour way is classy and inoffensive.
The toy operates via a single button interface, as is the standard for most small vibrators on the market. One thing to note is that while this is classed as a bullet vibrator, it is too wide to fit in the standard bullet holes in the bases of some dildos or butt plugs – just something to consider if you use this style of toy.
My experience
The power this little thing puts out is no joke. It is not the most rumbly bullet out there (the We-Vibe Tango X holds that title) and obviously there is no comparison with a mains powered wand if that’s your preferred style of vibrator, but for its size and price point I cannot fault it.
I only use the 4 steady speeds as patterns on a clitoral vibrator are useless to me, and 17 options is definitely overkill! If I accidentally skip the fourth setting I have to turn it off and on again as that’s obviously way quicker than skipping through all those patterns.
The battery life is great and the magnetic charger connects well and is reliable. A full charge is supposed to give you 60 minutes of playtime which I think is about right and it charges in about the same time. I use it virtually every time I have partnered sex which is why I like to have an extra as a back up! It may sound frivolous, but when it’s your most reliable method to orgasm, you cough up the cash.
The take away
As you may have gathered, I think the Lovehoney Desire Bullet is a fantastic product. It may not have the cult status as the We-Vibe Tango, but it is a solid and much more reliable toy. My original ones lasted around 2 years each with extremely frequent use which I can’t be mad about!
